Short documentary on Galen Beery’s Experience

If you haven’t seen this video yet, its part of the Hmong Story 40 exhibit. A great short documentary on a man who didn’t realize he was documenting the story of the Hmong during the war. A great perspective and information for those who want to learn more or reflect on what has happened.

If you’re traveling to Fresno, CA for the holidays you can check out the exhibit which lasts from December 12, 2015 – January 2, 2016 at the Fresno Fairgrounds. For more information follow the link http://www.hmongstory40.org/.

Struggles of Relating to an Immigrant Parent

I thought I’d share this since it has similarities to many struggles many have experienced: the struggle of relating to an immigrant parent and meeting a middle ground because of the generational gap.

It’s a Pixar Short Film animation based on an animator named Sanjay Patel who struggled with this issue. However using the mythical tales from the Indian culture he is able to recreate a different story from his Indian and American background.

Here is a link to a snippet of the struggle.

Spiral Youth Club Improvements

Hi all. What are ways that Spiral Youth Club can improve itself in the Hmong community? What new events or ideas do you have or would look forward to? Transportation is also a big issue; and how could we solve that for the youth in the community? Please speak your opinion. Without an organization to hold the youth together in the Hmong community, then what else resources is there for the young folks?
